Still Thinking About Foxes

All is quiet, just me and the garden and the birdsong.

Oh and the hum of the odd bee or 'Dumbledore' (as my very good  friend recently reminded me their proper name was )
A mossy bed amid these bells would be a good idea, in the warm sun, just to sleep for a little while.....

My mind is still filled with foxes, and foxes and  more foxes so what else could I do but paint one?..

                                                             'Rest Your Weary Head'

Is a very special original painting on wood edged with real silver leaf. It will shortly be listed for sale here.

Before I disappear again for a few days, let me introduce you to my lodger that has taken up residence in the greenhouse. Beneath the salad box he hides and  pays his way by keeping the slugs down.

Of course it could be a she?...

  2. Oh yes, that's a she-toad alright! They are always much larger than their husbands, we've had a pair in our back garden for a few years and they go slug hunting together - Little and Large come to mind!

  5. Such a sweet painting.... I sometimes awaken in the morning to my Pasha cat with his head tucked under my chin... what joy it would be sometime to awaken with a fox gently resting her head on mine! Lovely!

I've been hearing and seeing foxes every day for a few weeks now - last night, in the wee hours - calling a short way off in the woods.. magical.
    Thanks for sharing your beauty!

  10. Oh my soul, it's a toad. I thought it was a rock until I saw the eyes! Goodness, she's worthy of a fairy tale. Perhaps if you kiss her, Prince William will materialize.

  16. Exceptional and beautiful Karen, I love your fox!
I'm definitely not into people in paintings but I make an exception for your work as they are so connected to the gentle animals that you paint that I could think of it being no other way.
Your toad looks very happy and full!

  25. Lovely painting and photos. Not too keen on toads, but if they keep the slugs down that's great.

I love foxes and although they have some very nasty habits which don't bare thinking about too much. I find there is something quite irrisistible about their little faces. I love hearing them call at night in winter.

  27. Oh well occasionally a fox passes through our garden. Once a very old grey fox (definitely a fox) sat in our back garden just taking the air. I watched him from the window full of excitement at how beautiful he looked.

When I was working in Nottingham I had to get up early to get the bus and was preceded along our road by a fox too. They are such beautiful creatures to watch.
